Funeral services for Donita Marie Hopkins, age 74, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 23, 2024 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with burial to follow at Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Norristown, Georgia. Pastor Jim Rhodes will officiate.
Mrs. Hopkins was born November 18, 1949 in Kankakee, Illinois; she was preceded in death by her parents, the late Robert Benjamin and Hannah Hartung Benjamin, her husband, Duane Ray Hopkins and a grandson, Brayden Lackey. She was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
For 30 years, Donita was a dedicated and devoted military wife to Duane. It was that life that fueled her passion for rambling and being on the go. During her life, Donita made many friendships but her greatest love was her family. She was a loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her three children, Kimberly (Thomas) Rowland, Carrie (Matt) Lackey and Chris Hopkins; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; a brother, Martin Benjamin; two sisters, Lisa Keator and Patricia Weber; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Thomas N. Rowland, Andrew Rowland, Archer Rowland, Samuel Rowland, Bill Dominy and Dan Hopkins.
Honorary escort will include David Hopkins, Allen Shirley and Keith Beck.
