James Walter Evans, Jr.
June 25, 1951 - May 16, 2013
Services for James Walter Evans, Jr., age 61, of Dublin will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 21, 2013 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Billy Daws and Mr. Bill Adams will officiate. Mr. Evans died Thursday, May 16, 2013.

Mr. Evans was the son of the late James (Jake) Walter Evans, Sr. and the late Merle B. Hilley Evans. He was a 1970 graduate of Dublin High School. Mr. Evans was a member of Dudley Baptist Church and an active member of Dublin Elks Lodge # 1646 where he helped with bingo at the Carl Vinson V. A. Hospital in Dublin. Mr. Evans was an avid Dublin High Fighting Irish and Georgia Bulldogs football fan. He was owner and operator of the family business, Evans Sheet Metal Works originally opened by his father, Jake Evans.

Survivors include his children, Heather Evans (Kris) Carr of Warner Robins, Nathan (Sarah) Evans of Statham, Michael Evans of Dublin, and Paul Evans of Dublin; grandchildren, Skylar Carr, Sydney Carr, and Norah Evans; sisters, Terry Evans (Ron) Hayes, of Longwood, FL, and Jane Evans (Dick) Spall of Pocatello, ID; and special friend, Nina Hall.

Nathan Evans, Michael Evans, Paul Evans, Kris Carr, Jimmy Garrett, and Brett Hall will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Friends wishing to support a cause important to Jimmy may make donations in his name to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of his mother, Merle Evans.
