Almaleen Stuckey Obituary

Almaleen Mullis Stuckey, 85, of Dublin, formerly of Cadwell, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Thursday September 5, 2019 at 12:45pm. Her entrance into heaven was peaceful, surrounded by her husband and loved ones.

Almaleen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Bana, Aunt Punk, and friend to many. She was well known for her beautiful cakes and delicious food. She enjoyed sewing and made many dresses and other garments for her granddaughters. After many years in banking, Almaleen retired from C&S Bank in Rentz and loved her co-workers and job. She often spoke of the many people she knew there and experiences from the bank. Born Almaleen Mullis on October 13, 1933 to the late Judson David Mullis, Sr. and the late Eddie Mae Smith Mullis, she was married to Billy Stuckey on July 4, 1953 in Cadwell. They were faithful and active leaders and members at Cadwell Baptist Church for over 50 years. After moving from Cadwell to Dublin in 2000, they began attending Dudley Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Doris Moye, J.D. Mullis, Jr., Fred Mullis, Graden Mullis, and Quint Mullis.

She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Norman Joseph (Billy) Stuckey, two sons Mike (Carey Lynne) of Hartwell and Tim (Katrina) of Dublin, grandchildren Shelley (Russ) Tanner of Watkinsville, Kristin (Craig) Moses of Watkinsville, Timothy (Allie Beth) Stuckey of Dallas, TX, Amanda Stuckey of Greenville SC, Mallory (Garrett) Thorington of Atlanta, and Michael Stuckey of Athens; siblings, Louise Colter of Dublin, Katherine Zachary of Macon, and Tommy Mullis of Melrose, FL. A loving great grandmother to twelve children ages 2 months to 10 years old, she cherished times playing with them, holding babies, and making them chocolate chip cookies.

The family is very grateful to her caretakers, particularly Pat Johnson, Shirley Scott, Emma Brown, and Jill Banyai. Integrity Hospice in Dublin and St. Mary’s Hospice in Athens were integral in her care and also provided invaluable help and advice for Almaleen and all the family. The ultimate caretaker was her husband Billy, who showed beautiful sacrificial love every day as he served her.

The family will be receiving friends on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 10:30am-12pm followed by the funeral service at 12pm in the worship center at Dudley Baptist Church. Interment will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens following the services. Arrangements are being handled by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of Tim and Katrina Stuckey, 1006 Trinity Hills Drive in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org to help find a cure for this disease.
