Billy Thomas

Billy Thomas, age 89, of Dublin, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Thomas was born in Laurens County on April 8, 1930 to the late Olaf and Mattie Pearl Radney Thomas. He was a farmer and member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. Billy’s greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife Melba Kent Thomas for 68 years. He loved his girls and loved being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Hope Thomas.

Survivors include his wife, Melba Thomas, of Dublin; daughters, Nancy Tomlinson (Kenny), of Dudley, and Kandy Riner (Donny), of Dublin; grandchildren, Brandy Mullis (Spence), of Dublin, Misty Smith (Brian), of Dexter, Taylor Taylor (Matt), of Dublin, and Zachery Daniel (Amy), of Soddy-Daisy, TN; great-grandchildren, Beau Mullis, Nan Mullis, Ava Smith, Boone Smith, Everett Taylor, and Isla Daniel; sister, Lynette Renfroe; brother, Jimmy Thomas (Susie Ann); several nieces and nephews, and caretakers, Mattie Faison and Jasmine Daniels.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Rogers, Rev. James Hughes, and Rev. Wes Pinkley will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Zachery Daniel, Matt Taylor, Spence Mullis, Brian Smith, Beau Mullis, Boone Smith and Larry Curry.
