Blanche Virginia (Wood) Collins

Blanche Virginia Wood Collins, age 92, of Dexter, passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018.

Mrs. Collins was born in Laurens County to the late Isaac Thomas and Eva Pritchett Wood. She was a homemaker and member of Dexter Baptist Church. She loved gardening, sewing, fishing, canning vegetables, and always made the best pear preserves. Blanche always put others before herself and her sense of humor was enjoyed by all. She loved raising her family and was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edwin Collins; brothers, Hilton Wood, Mark Wood, Ed Wood, Nathan Wood, Bob Wood, Morris Wood, I.T. Wood, Jr., and sisters, Lorene Sanders and Ruth Patisaul.

 Survivors include her sons, Glenn Edwin Collins (Gerri), of Dexter, Robert Daniel Collins, of Dexter, Woody Don Collins, of Townsend; daughters, Wanda Collins Akins (Dennis), of Brooklet, and Teresa Collins Knight (John), of Dexter; grandchildren, Shaun Collins (Olia), Dustin Collins (Sandra), Leslie Collins Pittman, Eli Collins (Kim), Isaac Collins, Virgil Gentry, Chad Collins (Vicki), Kelly Collins (Valerie), Thomas Collins (April), Marshall Akins (Caitlin), Monica Akins, and Olivia Knight Dant (Blythe); 19 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marjorie Wood,  and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Dexter Baptist Church with burial to follow at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Calvin Holcomb and Rev. Brandton Wood will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Shaun Collins, Dustin Collins, Eli Collins, Chad Collins, Kelly Collins, Thomas Collins, Marshall Akins, and Blythe Dant.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Dexter Baptist Church Youth Fund, P.O. Box 35, Dexter, GA 31019.
