David Lanier Obituary

Harry David Lanier died on August 20, 2019, in Chattanooga, TN.  He was born in Decatur, GA, in 1950 and grew up in Dublin. David graduated from Dublin High School and joined the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  He served his country and returned home to study literature and history and graduate from Georgia Southern College.  David had a variety of jobs during his life:  He worked at Alexander’s Office Center, as a land surveyor, and for AT&T, from which he retired.

David Lanier was a smart and witty man. He is remembered as a storyteller who did not sugarcoat the facts. He was an avid reader and outdoorsman. David was good at reaching out to friends and expressing his emotions. He was honest, and you knew where you stood with him. He was proud of his sons, Chris and Scott. He will be missed by many.

David is survived by his loving partner, Teresa Sheridan, and her daughter and son-in-law, Raina and Patrick Singleton; his brother, William Ivey, William’s wife Joan and daughter and son-in-law, Ginny and Scott Dopson, and their children, Elon and Robert; sons Scott Lanier and Chris Lanier, and Chris’s wife Angel and their two sons, Dalton and Connor; former wife, Nannette Alexander, and former mother-in-law, Geva Alexander; many friends and buddies.

A Celebration of the Life of David Lanier will be held on Sunday, August 25, at the home of Geva Alexander (1704 Knox Street, Dublin, GA) from 4:00 - 6:00 pm.
