Dorothy Seaton Obituary
Dorothy Chapman Seaton, age 91, of Dublin, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018.
Mrs. Seaton, a native of Dublin, was predeceased by her parents Marshall A. and Ruby Peterson Chapman and a sister, Jane Elizabeth Chapman. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years, Frank W. Seaton. Mrs. Seaton attended Agnes Scott College and the University of Georgia where in 1947 she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. She was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was recognized in The Adelphean as the first female radio personality for WUGA at the University of Georgia. She and her husband Frank worked side by side at Seaton Oil Company for over 35 years. She remained an avid supporter of University of Georgia academics and athletics throughout her life.
Survivors include her son, Frank W. (Debra) Seaton, Jr., of Dublin; daughter, Ann S. (Bert L.) Brown, of St. Simons Island, GA; grandsons, John W. (Raegan) Seaton, of Lexington, TX, Christopher L. Seaton, of Atlanta, GA, and Marshall Seaton Brown, of Charleston, SC and great-grandsons, Joshua W. Seaton and James W. Seaton, both of Lexington, TX.
The family will receive friends at Mrs. Seaton’s home, 1808 Pine Forest Circle, Dublin, GA, on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 4:00PM until 6:00PM.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Friday, October 11, 2018 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Tyler Plaxico will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Charles Johnson, Don Daily, Francis Lewis, David Lawrence, Ben Snipes, and Jerry Adams.
