Ethel J. (Bryan) Dykes

Ethel Bryan Dykes, 90, of Dexter GA, passed away December 9, 2019. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 16, 2019 at noon at Mt Carmel Baptist Church in Dexter with burial to follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Dykes was the daughter of the late David Jackson Bryan, Jr. and the late Ida Hatcher Bryan and the wife of the late M.E. Dykes. She loved crafts, flowers/gardening and spending time with her family. She also loved researching her family genealogy which led to her and her husband exploring many family cities and cemeteries. She was a member of and attended Mt Carmel Baptist Church. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone (AT&T).

Mrs. Dykes was preceded in death by her daughter, Marsha Delores Dykes, siblings Doris Brown, Bobby Bryan and Howard Bryan; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Dykes, and her son-in-law, Paul Gehringer. She is survived by her children Diann Dykes (Ken Latine), Fay Cannoy (Fred), Deborah Dymond, Donna Hickman (Bob), Samuel Dykes and Edie Gehringer. She is also survived by sisters; Louise Mullis, Shelia Hall (Herman), Trina Matthews (Bobby) and Marcia Weathersbee; 20 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. (Her 46th great-grandchild is due in May 2020.)

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons Raymond Porter, Gilbert Porter, Bryan Cannoy, Nicholas Dymond, Joshua Hickman, Jesse Dykes, Bradley Gehringer, and Zachary Gehringer.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made , in her memory, to either Mt Carmel Church Cemetery Fund, 2605 Mt Carmel Baptist Church Rd, Dexter GA 31019 or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601
