Eva Virginia (Hoover) Odom

Services for Eva “Virginia” Odom, age 79, of Adrian, will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Poplar Springs Methodist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Rev. Mark Hardin, Rev. Matthew Bowden, and Rev. Karl Senn will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.  Mrs. Odom died Saturday, February 3, 2018. 

Kyle Odom, Jason Owens, Colby Owens, Jeff Haywood, Jacob Brown, Todd Webb and Wade Webb will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Odom was a loving wife of sixty-three years, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a homemaker and worked in various sewing factories over the years.  Her favorite job of all was taking care of others including the many kids in the neighborhood she raised.  She was Ma Gina to all.  She loved to cook and grow plants.  Her generosity and caring for others was unmatched.

Mrs. Odom was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Eva Foskey Hoover; brother, Byron Hoover, and sisters, Nellie Hayes, Louise Smith, and Margaret Haywood.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Odom, of Adrian; children, Betty (Karl) Senn, of Rockledge, and  Kenny (Lynn) Odom, of Adrian; brother, Walter (Geraldine) Haywood, of East Dublin; special son, James Barwick, of East Dublin; grandchildren, Leigh (Greg) Brown, of Rockledge, Ashley (Matthew) Bowden, of Louisburg, NC, Mychelle (Jason) Owens, of East Dublin, and Kyle (Kristina) Odom, of Cadwell; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many children that she raised through the years.
