Services for Frank D. Cook, age 86, of Dublin, will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 31, 2019, in the chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Kyle Giddens and Rev. Jay Moore will officiate. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM in the social hall of the church. Mr. Cook died Tuesday, May 28, 2019.
Frank was a native of Laurens County. He graduated from Dublin High School in 1950. Frank proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed for two years at Fort Kobbe, Panama Canal as a staff sergeant. He graduated from Middle Georgia College with multiple associate degrees. In 1957, he began working at J.P. Stevens as a shipping clerk. He worked and served in various capacities for 44 years and retired as division director of quality control. Frank was a charter member of the Dublin Optimist Club where he served as president. He was a faithful member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church for 69 years. Frank was happiest enjoying his family and being outside working in his yard.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents, William Harvey and Louise Pope Cook; brother, William Harvey Cook, Jr.; father-in-law, Emory Ellington; and mother-in-law, Susie Green Ellington.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Gracie Ellington Cook, of Dublin; children, Jeffery D. Cook, of Cumming, DeLynn Cook (Tracy) Gay, of Dublin, Jason A. (Rene) Cook, of Warner Robins; grandchildren, Victoria Cook, of New York, NY, Harrison Cook, of Phoenix, AZ, Claire Gay, and Corbin Gay, both of Dublin, Spencer Cook, and Addison Cook, both of Warner Robins; sister-in-law, Carolyn Ellington, of Montrose; and cousin, Faye Dixon, of Dudley.
Flowers are appreciated, however, memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Street Baptist Church, 209 N Jefferson St., Dublin, GA 31021.
