Helen Prescott Johnson, age 96, of Dublin, Georgia, died at Serenity Place on Thursday, July 4, 2019.
Services will be held in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home at 12:00 noon, on Monday, July 8, 2019. The family will receive friends an hour before services. Private interment will follow the service. Rev. Darren Talley is to officiate.
Helen was born on January 8, 1923 in the Condor Community of Laurens County to the late John R. and Callie Graham Prescott. She was retired from Southern Bell Telephone and a faithful member of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Prior to returning to Dublin, Helen was a loyal member of Mable White Baptist Church in Macon, Georgia. She was a selfless, generous woman who lived her life in service to God, her family, and others.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph (Jay) Johnson; brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Ruth Prescott; niece, Picciola (Picci) Prescott; nephew, Calvin (Cal) Prescott, all of Dawson, Georgia; brother-in-law, Ed Hodges, of Dublin, Georgia; and her sister-in-law, Runell J. Kight, of Dublin, Georgia.
She is survived by her sister, Ann P Hodges, of Dublin; step daughter, Sonja Barton, of Rockhill, SC; grandson, Derek Weese; nieces, Rae Ann H. Parker (Alan), of Columbus, Georgia and Loette Mercer (Ben) of Dexter; nephews, Chris E. Hodges, of Dublin, Kenny Prescott (Gail), and Russ Prescott (Sonia) of Dawson, Georgia; and thirteen great nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff of Emerald City Lodge; Stephanie Stanley; and the staff Serenity Place for the care that Helen received.
