James Crabb passed away on Friday, November 29, 2019 at Serenity Place surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Crabb was born in Laurens County on December 6, 1930, the son of the late Callie Clifford and Beuna Pritchett Crabb. He was an active and supportive member of Christ Episcopal Church. Mr. Crabb was a founding member of the Dublin Country Club, a longtime member of the Dublin Moose Club, Elks Club, and a devoted longtime Mason in The Shriners organization of Laurens County.
Mr. Crabb began working at the age of six, selling peanuts and newspapers on the streets of Dublin. He had a diversified career starting as a police officer in the motorcycle division before being promoted to Assistant Chief of the City of Dublin Police Department. He was owner of Sinclair Oil Full Service Station and Trucking Company and co-owner of Dublin Sash & Door. Mr. Crabb founded Dublin Home Builders and Shurmont Homes, the first pre-engineered home industry in the Laurens County area. He started Brewton Cabinet Company, owner of Discount Furniture and several movie theaters throughout Georgia. Mr. Crabb was the founder of Orion Builders and Three Star Homes as well as multiple financial institutions.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Fay Fountain Crabb; and brothers, Luther Crabb, John Crabb, and Cordell Crabb.
Survivors include his sons, Gregory S. Crabb (Mary), of Dublin, and James Alan Crabb (Sandy), of Dublin; grandchildren, Kyle Crabb (Suzanna), Colby Crabb Mascaro (Richard), Casey Cochran Crabb (Victoria), Callie Crabb Kamada (Rahul), and Courtney Crabb Retrum (Travis); four great-grandchildren; sister, Diane Crabb Fowler, and several nieces and nephews.
A Requiem Mass for Mr. Crabb will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at 1:00PM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. The Priest and Celebrant Edward Sellers will conduct the services.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Walke, Wash Larsen, Bill Edgar, Eugene Smith, Tom Perry, Mike Cauley, and Jimmy Allgood.
