John “Boss” Cottrell, Sr., age 88, of Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.
Mr. Cottrell was born May 28, 1929 in North Carolina to the late Clarence and Kate Frazier Cottrell. He was a deacon at Rowland Baptist Church in North Carolina and coached little league baseball. He was an avid golfer and retired general manager from Mohawk Industries. “Boss”, as he was lovingly known, was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church, the Dublin Country Club, and the Carpet Trade Golf Association. He lived life to the fullest and will be deeply missed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Garland Eugene Cottrell and Joe Pete Cottrell.
Survivors include his sons, Johnny Cottrell (Leesa), of Gilbert, SC and Greg Cottrell (Vicki), of Powder Springs, GA; grandchildren, John Cottrell, III of Gilbert, SC, Megan Vette (Ryan), of Johns Creek, GA, Todd Cottrell (Jungeun), of Raleigh, NC, Kelly Farrelly (Rob), of Decatur, GA; great-grandchildren, Owen Vette, Wyatt Vette, Rosalie Farrelly, and Leo Cottrell; sister, Lilly Francis Collins, of Greensboro, NC and significant other, Ann Fennell, of Dublin.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Pine Forest United Methodist Church. Dr. Joel Dent will officiate. The family will greet friends following the memorial service at the church.
