Kathy Bailey

Kathy Bailey, age 44, of Dublin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 16, 2018 after a courageous battle.

Mary Kathryn “Kathy” Awtry Bailey was born on October 31, 1973. She was a graduate of Oconee County High School. She then went on to earn her Bachelors of Nursing from the Medical College of Georgia, and her Master’s in Nursing from Georgia College and State University. She married James “Jay” Bailey on July 1, 1995. She served as a nurse and Education Director of Fairview Park Hospital before having children and becoming a home-maker. Kathy had a heart for fostering and adopting children. She and her husband were the proud parents of 2 biological daughters, Tinsley and Jaycie, and 3 adopted children; Colby, Brendon, and Naudiah. She was an example in the home. You would always find Kathy helping the kids with homework and planning family outings. During her many chemo-therapy treatments, other patients would find Kathy a kindred spirit with an uplifting attitude and encouraging testimony. Kathy had a robust and magnetic personality that always praised her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, throughout all of her trials.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jay Bailey, of Dublin; children, Tinsley, Jaycie, Colby, Brendon, and Naudiah Bailey, all of Dublin; parents, Harold and Shirley Awtry, of Bishop, GA; siblings, Martha Stewart (Brad), of Walnut Grove, GA, Mark Awtry (Amy), of Summerville, SC, and Sandra Allen, of Athens, GA; father and mother-in-law, Tony and Ann Bailey, of Brooksville, FL; sister-in-law, Michelle Smith (John), of Columbus, GA; brother-in-law, Derrick Bailey, of Brooksville, FL and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and extended family members.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Rusty Stewart will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Mark Awtry, Brad Stewart, Kevin Taylor, Mike Karoly, Kyle Jarrard, and Daryl Bolden.
