Lindsay Michael Swida, age 72, of Dublin, passed away on Monday, October 8, 2018.
Mr. Swida was a native of Laurens County and the son of Leonard and Lois Sellers Swida. Mr. Swida was a graduate of Dublin High School, South Georgia College in 1967 and the University of Georgia in 1970. He was also in the Naval Air Reserves. During his college years, he was well known locally as an active member of the regional Southern Music Genre, bringing in many popular bands for performances in the Dublin area. He was also active in politics and worked in the white House during the Ford Administration. Mr. Swida retired from the Engelhard Corporation and then started Water Systems Management, Inc. He was an active member of the Rural Water Association and he was also one of the founding members of Tres Amigos in Liberty County.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Swida.
Survivors include his wife, Sara Ann Swida, of Dublin; son, Lane Matthew Swida, of Dublin; his beloved dog, Munson; sister-in-law, Lynn F. Thompson and her husband John, of Hull, GA; nieces, Amanda Gay, of Vietnam and April Gay, of Alpharetta, GA.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5:00PM until 7:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Services for Mr. Swida will be held graveside at 11:00AM on Friday, October 12, 2018 in Northview Cemetery. Rev. Charles Spence Freeman will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Mike Carroll, Eddie Spurling, Joe Fordham, Ron Kolat, John Henderson and Frankie Gibbs.
