Mr. Louis H Parker, 90, of Dublin passed away on July 20, 2019 at Dublinaire Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Parker was a native of Laurens County, and was born to the late Duren I. and Lucille Prescott Parker in Dublin. He graduated from Dublin High School and later the University of Georgia where he received a degree in Dairy Science. Mr. Parker returned to Dublin after college to serve as the General Manager of Dublin Cooperative Dairies which was formed to bottle milk produced on local dairy farms owned by the Claxton, Parker, Perry, and Walke families. He later was Managing Partner of Parkers Dairy Farm; President of Dublin Dairies, Inc., the local Borden milk distributor; and finally joined the US Postal Service where he served as a rural mail carrier for 22 years. He was very active in the Georgia Rural Mail Carriers Association, where he served in leadership positons, and for many years he represented the Georgia Association as delegate to the National Rural Mail Carriers Annual Convention.
Mr. Parker is survived by his wife of 67 years, Betty Garrett Parker of Dublin; sons Alan Parker (Rae Ann) of Columbus, GA, Roy Parker(Jackie) of Dublin; grandchildren Leah Donlin (Chris), Garrett Parker, Meredith Culpepper (Jeff), Steven Parker, Christopher Parker, and Michael Parker; and Great Grandchildren Callie and Carter Maddox, Reed and Drake Culpepper, and Jackson Parker.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his sons Louis H. Parker, Jr. and Paul Parker; and his brother Duren I Parker, Jr. (Sonny).
Pallbearers will be Christopher Parker, Michael Parker, Garrett Parker, Jack Price, Eddie Floyd and Bobby Kight.
Services will be held at 11:30 on Monday July 22, 2019 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin, and the family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at 10:30 on the day of the service. Private interment will follow the service at Northview Cemetery.
