Margarette Hodges Chappell, 92 of Dublin, went home to be with her Lord, while surrounded by her loving family at her home, Saturday, August 24, 2019.
She was born in Dublin, July 17, 1927, to the late Dr. Charles A. Hodges and Annie Williamson Hodges. She was a graduate of Dublin High School and Georgia Women’s College in Milledgeville. Mrs. Chappell taught school in Harrison, GA, was prior president of the Dublin Service League, life member of Dublin Christian Church and volunteered with many different civic organizations, was a wife and homemaker.
In addition to her parents, Margarette was preceded in death by her husband, Murray A. Chappell, Sr., a daughter Anella Chappell, brothers and sisters; Dr. Charles Hodges, Jr., Annette Callahan, Charlotte Alexander, Robert Earl Hodges and Virginia Hardman.
Survivors include a son, Murray Allen “Mac” Chappell, Jr. (Dee) of Dublin, Peggy Reed (Larry) of Danville, Jo Ann Manning (Buster) of Dudley, Robert Charles “Bob” Chappell (BJ) of Dublin, Betty Jane (Keith) Brown of Cochran, grandchildren; Lee Weaver, Barbra M. Hadden, Gena M. Hardin (Luke), Brad Powell (Courtney), Joel Manning (Sara), Robby Chappell, Shelley Beth Chappell, David Scott, Shannon Manley, and several great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Services for Mrs. Chappell will be held in the Mausoleum at Northview Cemetery, Thursday at 10:30 AM. Revs. Jamie Brame and Jamie Eubanks will officiate.
