Olene Shackelford (Sheppard) Woodard

Olene S. Shackelford Woodard, age 91, died on July 28, 2018, in Macon.  Services will be held Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home, with burial to follow in the Westview Cemetery, Wrightsville, GA.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

Born May 15, 1927 in Harrison, GA to the late William McKinley and Nannie Mae Tyson Sheppard, she was predeceased by her husband, Sidney C. Shackelford in 1969 and by husband Earl Jackson Woodard in 2006.

Survivors include her son, McKinley “Kin” Shackelford and wife Mychelle of Macon and stepchildren; Lydia and husband, Neil Loyd , Wanda Woodard,  and Zac and wife, Mary Woodard, step grandchildren; Whitney, and Garrett Loyd, Reece Woodard, Josh and Angel Long.

Mrs. Woodard graduated from Tift College, Forsyth, Georgia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, Atlanta and attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth Texas. She retied from the Carl Vinson VA Medical center as a registered nurse, after service in four VA hospitals.  She worked in the Volunteer Service at the Dublin VA and Library at Brewton Parker College, Mt. Vernon, GA

From her youth, Mrs. Woodard was a Confessed Christian blessed by membership in Southern Baptist Churches in each of her locations.  She loved libraries, books animals and her gardens.
