Osler Russell Tipton

Osler Russell Tipton, age 85, of Rentz, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Rentz. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Anthony Harmon and Dr. Larry Daniel will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM until funeral hour at the church.

Mr. Tipton was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and retired from the United States Coast Guard. He was a kind and generous man who loved his family very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Lyma Mildred Woodard; his first wife, Eloise Wood Tipton; sister, Iris “Dot” Lowery and brother, Charles Donald Tipton.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia D. Tipton, of Rentz; daughters, Lora Lynne Tipton-Williams, of Rock Hill, SC and Karen Tipton Waters (Christopher), of Dexter; step-children, David Payne, of Dublin, Jerry Payne, of Augusta, and Lisa P. Ayres, of Rentz; grandchildren, Jessica Kim Castillo (Ariel), Jennifer Bedwell (Joshua), Billy Payne, Ashley Smith (Jordan), and Joshua Williams; sisters, Nancy Snyder, Frances Thigpen, Bonnie Nell Cunningham, and Kaye Couey.
