Ronald F. Wilson Obituary

Ronald F. Wilson, age 86, of Dublin went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday April 3rd, 2019.

Services for Mr. Wilson will be held Saturday April 6th, 2019 at Dublin First Baptist Church beginning at 2:00PM. Rev. Cliff Morris will officiate. The family will receive friends in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church from 12:30 until funeral hour. Interment will be private.

Mr. Wilson was born on January 26th, 1933 in Atlanta, GA to the late Roy Fredric Wilson and Mamie Lou King.  He served as President and CEO of Southeast Paper Manufacturing Company for 17 years before retiring on February 1st, 1993. Ron Wilson was an Atlanta native and a graduate of Clemson University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his time in college he was a student athlete participating in football and basketball for the University.  During his career, he had worked with J.E. Sirrine Company and Eastern Engineering company, consulting engineering firms in the pulp and paper industry, Cox Newsprint, Inc. in Augusta, GA, Beloit Corporation and Weyerhauser Company immediately prior to joining Southeast Paper.

Ronald has been an active member in trade organizations including American Paper Institute, Paper Industry Management Association and Technical Association of Pulp and Paper Industry throughout his career. His civic affiliations have included Rotary Club, Dublin-Laurens County Chamber of Commerce, Georgia College Advisory Committee, Chairman of the Board of the American Cancer Society-Laurens County Unit, Director of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, Deacon of the First Baptist Church and serving on the Executive Board of the Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Wilson took advantage of every moment he could to spread the word of God. He felt a calling and this calling led him to retire early and start ministering to young married couples. His family and friends would say he was a true man of God. He felt the need to teach the Bible and minister the words of Jesus Christ.  He was loved by his family , friends and community.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years; Shirley Wilson; daughters, Rhonda Hensley  (Steve) of Dublin, Patti Maffett (Lance) of Rome, GA; sons, Bill Wilson (Kaye) of Little Rock, AR, John Wilson of Dublin; grandchildren, Ashley Johnson (Ritchie) of Cleveland, TN, Alex Hensley (Molly) of Cumming, GA, Michael Hensley of Los Angeles, CA, Lindsay Mattox (Trey) of Little Rock, AR, Kaily Colla (Mike) of Little Rock, AR, Natalie Ellis (James) of Hilton Head, SC, Luke Maffett (Cortney) of Corpus Christi , TX, Callie Maffett of Athens, GA, Brooke Rogers (Lane) of Dublin, Ally Wilson of Dublin, Landon Wilson, Maggie Wilson and Montana Wilson all of Greensboro, GA. Ten great grandchildren also survive.

Steve Hensley, Alex Hensley, Michael Hensley, Lance Maffett, Luke Maffett and Ritchie Johnson will serve as Pall Bearers.
