Ruth (Peacock) Johnson

Ruth Peacock Johnson, age 99, went home to be with The Lord on July 21, 2019.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Laurens County to the late William Sol Peacock and Alice Lou Giddens Peacock. She lived in Laurens County for most of her life, except for the last few years. She recently resided with her daughter in Guyton, GA, for the past four years. She was an avid gardener and was known for sharing her vegetables with family and neighbors. She was a member of Dudley Baptist Church. She was spunky and independent.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, E.H. Johnson and James W. Johnson; and son, Barnie Ray Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughters; Sandra Chance, of Danville, Charlotte Atkins (Joe), of Guyton, Margie Evans (Wendell), of Forsyth, and Jan Johnson, of Garden City; five grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Johnson will be held Wednesday July 24, 2019 beginning at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Lay Person Jerry Peacock will officiate.
