December 25, 1941 ~ June 2, 2019 (age 77)

Thomas E. Proctor of Dublin, GA died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA. Tom was the son of Margaret and Ken Proctor of Dublin, GA.

Tom was a graduate of Dublin High School, Class of 1960. He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Finance. He also graduated from the School of International Banking sponsored by the American Bankers Association at the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. He worked for the State Banking Department of Georgia and his duties there included examination of the 58 state banks as well as the five foreign bank offices located in Atlanta.

Tom was a member of the Committee of 500 of the Georgia Alumni Society, a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, a member of the Dublin Lodge BPOE 1646 and most recently a member of the Camden County Elks Lodge as a co-sponsor for VA activities. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving a tour of duty in Vietnam. Tom remained actively involved with the VA Volunteer Services and was named Volunteer of the Year for his work in Recreational Therapy. Upon returning to Dublin after retiring from the State Banking Department and other interests in North Georgia, he became a banking consultant. He remained active in the community serving on various committees including the Board of Directors for the Warren Key Memorial Foundation. He served diligently as Treasurer for the 1960-70 Mega Reunion from its inception.

Tom was a quiet, soft spoken laid back type of person until it came to his beloved “Georgia Dawgs” playing football. He was the center of attention at family tailgate parties ‘jumping up’ to encourage the Dawgs on to victory!

Survivors include his sister, Karen (Larry) Hutchinson, of Adrian, GA; nephew, Kade B.P. Hutchinspn, of Alameda, CA, and numerous cousins in Georgia, Texas, and Oregon. Tom was blessed with many dear friends from high school, college, the Army, and work over the years. He loved animals and had a tender heart for those in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Tom; an announcement as to the time and place will be given at a later date. Memorials in his memory may be made to the Laurens County Humane Society.
