Willard Bell, age 73, of Dublin, passed away on Tuesday, October 30, 2018.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at New Bethel Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Alamo City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM until funeral hour at the church on Saturday. Rev. Grady Mimbs, Rev. Jimbo Dominey, and Rev. Ken Rodgers will officiate.
Pallbearers will be John McGowan, Jerry Griffin, Hugh Smith, Raymond Wallace, Chandler Edmond, Trey Torok, Jim Bell, and John Garrett. Honorary pallbearers will be member of the New Bethel Men’s Sunday School Class.
Mr. Bell was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Conflict, where he received a Medal of Honor, Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He retired from Georgia Power and was an avid fisherman. He loved music and playing the guitar. He was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church and the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class. Mr. Bell was a selfless man and real servant of his church and community.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Lawson Bell and Maudell Johnson Bell; brother, James Bell and sisters, Carolyn Miller and Evelyn Swinson.
Survivors include his daughter, Scarlet Torok (Drew), of Madsion, GA; grandson, Trey Torok, of Madison; granddaughter, Laura Torok, of Madison; sister, Betty Jo Wilkie, of Alamo, several nieces and nephews and his church family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Georgia War Veterans Home, 2249 Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
