Services for Aaron Johnson, age 71, of Dexter, will be held at 7:00 PM Tuesday, August 16, 2011 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Larry Waldrep will officiate. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the Alligood Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was the son of the late George Johnson and the late Mary Lizzie Johnson. Aaron was a member of the Dexter Assembly of God. He loved the Lord, his family and friends. He enjoyed living life to the fullest and always had a gentle sweet spirit. He was retired from Dublin Piggly Wiggly where he was a meat cutter. Aaron was preceded in death by a sister, Kathryn Tapley and a brother, Kenneth Johnson. He died Sunday, August 14, 2011. Special thanks to his caregiver, Kathy Perry. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patricia Johnson of Dexter, sons, Tim and Kathy Johnson of Simpsonville, SC, Tony and Brandi Johnson of Dublin, grandchildren, Kenny Johnson and Brett Johnson, of Simpsonville, SC, Parker Johnson and Cooper Johnson, of Dublin, brothers, Rayford Johnson and Riley Johnson of Kite, sisters, Grace Reynolds of Bartow, Dorothy Nobles of Dublin, Martha Lynn Rowland of Wrightsville, brothers in law, Donnie (Dianne) Alligood of Dexter, and Carroll (Avis) Alligood of Dublin. Brett Johnson, Kenny Johnson, Sean Alligood, Chris Chavis, Danny Whittle, and Billy Alligood will serve as pallbearers. Parker Johnson and Cooper Johnson will serve as honorary escorts. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA, 31021.
