A.J. Bufford McCullars, 17, of East Dublin, passed away on Sunday, May 30, 2021.
A.J. was born on December 22, 2003, and was fostered at age one where his future parents fell in love with him. He was quiet until he was introduced to Swainsboro Raceway where he opened up and became the mascot. He loved fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He was a bright kid that had many ideas of what he desired to be when he got older which included a firefighter, policeman, racecar driver, wrestler, rapper, and American Indian. A.J. definitely loved the ladies and absolutely loved The Dukes of Hazzard. He was Junior Chief of the Swainsboro Raceway Safety Crew and had a huge key collection. A.J. was a member of Faith Christian Assembly where he was baptized on June 2, 2019, and was active in the youth group.
The family requests that anyone who wants to bring a racing sticker or magnet of similar interest please bring them to the visitation to put on the casket.
A.J. was preceded in death by his grandfather, Terry E. Cook; grandmother, Beverly McCullars; great grandfathers, Edward Cook, Joseph McCullars, and Willis Davidson; great-grandmothers, Edna Davidson and Mamie McCullars, and aunt, Teresa Gibbs.
Survivors include his parents, Chris and LaFonda McCullars, of East Dublin; brothers, Jamie McCullars (Jessica), of Savannah, and SGT. Brent McCullars (Sara), of Tacoma, WA, and Justin McCullars, of East Dublin; grandmothers, Sarah Cook, of East Dublin; grandfather, Carroll McCullars, of Dublin; great-grandmother, Betty Cook, of East Dublin; aunts, Latralle Graham (Mark), of East Dublin, Candi Brown (Chris), of Warner Robins, and Sue Maybin, of Dublin; uncle, David Knight (Sara Lynn), of Columbia, SC, and numerous cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 3 rd , in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Faith Christian Assembly Cemetery. Rev. Doug Bridges will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Paul Purvis, Jamie McCullars, Tommy Davis, Brent McCullars, Danny Scarborough, Greg Crabb, and Justin McCullars. Honorary pallbearers will be Swainsboro Raceway workers and racecar drivers.
