Obituary

Services for Alan W. Purvis, age 65, of East Dublin, will be held on Saturday July 20, 2013 at 3:00 PM at the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Pastor Steve Hardeman and Rev. W. L. Currie will officiate. Mr. Purvis was a member of the Baptist Faith and a prior member of the V.F.W. He served in the United States Army during Vietnam, receiving an honorable discharge on April 1, 1974 and the Air Medal award. Mr. Purvis was employed with YKK. He was preceded in death by his father, Nolan Wendall Purvis, and mother, Mary Frances Salter Purvis. He passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Martha Wood Purvis; children, Rodney Smith, Stephanie Smith Williams, and Rachel (Steve) Baggett; grandchildren, Steven Baggett, Megan Williams, Haliegh Baggett, Emily Baggett, and William Baggett, all of East Dublin; brother, Dan (Kay) Purvis of Cedar Grove; and several nieces and nephews. Clayton Wood, Freddie Wood, Corey Purvis, Joey White, H. W. Purvis, and Danny Ward will serve as pallbearers. Sonny Drumm, Jimmy Warren, Bobby Clark, and Tommy Daniel will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2:00PM until funeral hour at the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
