Services for Albert Lee Currie, age 82 of Rentz, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2013 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Dr. Larry Daniel, Rev. Nolon McDaniel and Mr. David Senn will officiate. Mr. Currie died Friday, September 13, 2013.
Mr. Currie retired from Dublin Institutional Suppliers. He was an active member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Rentz, where he served as a Deacon and led singing for over fifty years. He loved gospel music, particularly Gaither songs, and participated as a member of the Joyful Senior Band. Mr. Currie was a member of Gideons International and visited area churches for many years, spreading the mission of the Gideons of spreading the Word of God through placement of Bibles. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed.
Mr. Currie was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Currie, Sr. and Emily Mobley Currie, and his brother, Charles Currie.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-three years, Betty Ann Dominy Currie, of Rentz; children, Lynn (Rick) Humphrey, of Warner Robins, and Al (Debbie) Currie, of Dublin; grandchildren, Jason (Jodi) Warren, Mandy (Stan) Jessup, Alicia (John) Ballard, and Meghan (Caleb) Wilson; five great grandchildren, Jaxon, Emree, Hunter, Maleigha, and Suzanne; brother, Harold Currie; and sister, Jan Coward.
Deacons of Mt. Zion Church and Bennie Dixon will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
