Albert Steve Mercer October 18, 1961 - September 3, 2011

Services for Albert S. "Buddy" Mercer, Jr., age 49, of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Rev. Doug Mays and Richard Smith will officiate. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Mercer was a farmer and partner of Greystone Farms. He served in all state positions of the Georgia Young Farmers Association, including president. He also served on the Board of Directors of Laurens County Farm Bureau and the Farm Service Agency. He was a graduate of Dublin High School and ABAC. Mr. Mercer was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cochran. He was a loving husband and son. Mr. Mercer was preceded in death by his grandparents, J. T. "Ted" Mercer and Louise Joiner Mercer, and Walter Lee "Pat" Pattillo and Bertha Mae Daniels Pattillo. Survivors include his wife, Elaine English Mercer, of Dublin; parents Albert Steve Mercer, Sr. and Patricia Pattillo Mercer, of Dexter; sisters Terry Jayne (Ken) Litke, of North Augusta, SC and Patricia Lynn Mercer, of Atlanta; and niece and nephew, Rachel and Hunter Litke, of North Augusta. Mike Clay, Michael Clay, Shawn Clay, Tom Smith, Chad Smith, and Steve Browning will serve as pallbearers. The Board of Directors of the Laurens County Farm Bureau and members of Georgia Young Farmers will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
