Funeral service for Alfred William Payne, Jr., age 73, of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 11, 2016, in the chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Ken Rodgers and Keith Brooks will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Payne died Monday, August 8, 2016.

Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred William and Maude Alma Aldrich Payne; brother, James E. Payne; and sisters, Shirley Payne Nowell, and Helen Payne Lake.

Survivors include his wife of forty-one years, Marolyn Keene Payne, of East Dublin; step-daughter, Wendy Fitzgerald, of Macon; step-granddaughters, Britney Hartzog, Whitney Jolly, and Taylor Fitzgerald,, all of Macon; great grandchildren, Kyleigh Craven, Knox Hartzog, and Hayes Hartzog, all of Macon; sisters, Barbara Cartwright, and Peggy (Richard) Andrews, both of Dublin; brother, Ernest (Lazillel) Payne, of Jeffersonville; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet dog, Rascal.

Ricky Brooks, Keith Brooks, Randy Wood, Mickey Fulford, Eddie Morgan, and Robbie Graham, will serve as pallbearers. Mr. Payne's classmates will serve as honorary pallbearers.
