Services for Alver Braxton Starley, age 90 of East Dublin, will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Dublin Church of God. Rev. Steve Hardeman, Rev. Hugh Spivey and Rev. Milton Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Northview Cemetery. Mr. Starley was a charter member of Dublin Church of God where he served as a former Sunday School Superintendant. He was a WWII Veteran of the United States Army and he retired from J.P. Stevens after 27 years of service. Mr. Starley loved his Lord and family deeply. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark M. Starley and Annie Davis Starley; wife, Thelma A. Starley; three grandchildren and six brothers. Mr. Starley passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Survivors include his children, Mary Ann (Randell) Meeks of Soperton, Alver Braxton (Frances) Starley, Jr. of Dudley, Betty J. (Charles) Jacobs of Vienna, Tommy A. (Hilda) Starley of Dexter, Jane Garnto of East Dublin, Homer H. (Sandra) Starley of East Dublin, Melody Starley of Dublin and Terry (Terrie) Starley of East Dublin; 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Marie S. Porter of Trinity AL. Pallbearers will be Justin Starley, Eric Starley, Jay Starley, Jeff Starley, Chad Harrison and Colby Parker. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
