Services for Alvera L. Snipes, age 82, of Dublin, will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral with burial to follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Danny Duggar and Rev. Myron Wise will officiate. Mrs. Snipes was born on September 11, 1929 in Treutlen County. She was the daughter of the late Joe L. Lumley, Sr. and the late Minnie Cross Lumley. She was retired from the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center. Mrs. Snipes was a member of Grace Baptist Church. She passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Serenity Place. She is survived by two sons, Patrick (Pam) Crews of LaGrange and Michael D. (Tina) Snipes of Dublin; four granddaughters, Lauren (Todd) Carlisle of Columbus, Jessica (Jason) Karr and Callie Crews both of LaGrange and Shelby Lyn Snipes of Dublin; grandson, M.D. Snipes of Dublin; great-grandson, Griffin Troy Karr of LaGrange; sister, Margie Tapley of Soperton and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Todd Carlisle, Jason Karr, Stephen Hogan, Brian Clark, Teddy Holton and Jerry Hall. The family may be contacted at the home of Michael and Tina Snipes, 1045 Dominy Camphouse Road. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Flowers are accepted but memorial contributions may be made to the Georgia Baptist Children's Home, 9420 Blackshear Highway, Baxley, GA 31513.
