Audrey Shorty Sconyers Claxton, 99, entered into rest Friday, December 17, 2010. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Rev. Wayne Durden will officiate. Mrs. Claxton grew up in Glenwood, GA but lived most of her life in Dublin. She was the daughter of the late Judson B. and Pearl Clark. She spent more than 50 years in the nursing profession. She began her nurses training under Dr. E. B. Claxton, Sr. at Claxtons Hospital and completed her degree at University Hospital in Augusta, GA. In addition to being a devoted nurse, Shorty was known for her delicious cakes and chicken and dumplings. One of her favorite pastimes was going fishing. Mrs. Claxton was preceded in death by her husbands, Forrace Fobby Shelton Sconyers, Jr. and Nolen E. Claxton. She is survived by her daughter, Betty Rose Clark Culpepper (Marion) of Thomson, GA; granddaughter, Belinda Breedlove Osborne (David) of Woodbridge, VA; Joe Mark Breedlove (Ann), of Colorado Springs, CO; and great grandchildren, Taylor Mark Osborne, Shelby Jordan Osborne and Hope Ann Breedlove. Other survivors include sister, Addis Brewer; nieces, Diane Ison and Linda Scarborough (Fred) and nephews, Dennis Clark (Janice) and Glenn Clark (Linda) as well as several great nieces and nephews. Other surviving relatives in Dublin include Nannette Claxton Woodard, Wanda Woodard, Harriet Claxton, Edward B. Claxton III and their families. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Serenity Hospice, 504 Parker Dairy Road, Dublin, GA 31021.
