Services for Bennette Franklin Purvis, age 78, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 22, 2014, at New Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Grady Mimbs and Rev. Ken Rodgers will officiate. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Mr. Purvis died Friday, December 19, 2014. Mr. Purvis, a registered nurse, retired from the Carl Vinson V.A. Medical Center after thirty-two years of service. He also served with the South Central Health District of Georgia for eight to nine years and Shamrock Nursing Home for ten years. Mr. Purvis was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church, where he attended the Adult Sunday Class, and served as a Deacon for fifty years. Mr. Purvis was a member of the Dublin Civitan Club for many years. Mr. Purvis was preceded in death by his parents, J. T. Purvis, Sr., and Gladys Ward Purvis; brother, Rev. James Purvis, Jr.; wife, Beth Curry Purvis; and granddaughter, Amelia Frances Purvis. Survivors include his wife, Frances C. Purvis, of Dublin; sons, Bennette Russell (Andrea) Purvis, of Glenwood, Dennis Alan (Annharrow) Purvis, of Nicholson, Chad F. Purvis, of Smyrna, Jeffrey T. (Kimberli) Purvis, Jamie Dokes, both of Dublin; sister-in-law, Doris Purvis, of Macon; grandchildren, Chad (Christy) Williams, of Canton, Julia Ann (John) Dinkins, of Panama City Beach, FL, Elizabeth (Aaron) Gore, of Rome, Lillian Purvis, of Dublin, Alan (Taylor) Purvis, of Columbus, Hope (Ben) Shirley, of Quitman, Grace Purvis, of Dublin, Cecelia Purvis, Vivian Purvis, both of Nicholson, Caitlyn Purvis, of Dublin, Colby Purvis, Andrew Purvis, both of Wrightsville, Jonathon Purvis, Clay Robertson, Karleigh Robertson, Madison Purvis, J.T. Purvis, all of Dublin; six great grandchildren; niece, Joyce Franks; nephew, Don Purvis; and many special friends.
