Bennie had a distinguished career, retiring from Sawyer Drilling Company and the Kansas City Southern Railroad. Later in life, he found joy in working as a cattle farmer, where he could be found tending to his animals and the land with a sense of pride and fulfillment.

An avid outdoorsman, Bennie had a passion for the natural world. He spent countless hours in his garden, cultivating not just plants but also a sense of wonder and appreciation for life's simple pleasures. His love for bird watching reflected his patience and attention to the beauty of the world around him. Bennie's kind and thoughtful nature extended to every child he encountered, treating each one with a grandfatherly love that was as boundless as it was genuine.
