Bernard Paul Barfoot, 94, of Dublin and Milledgeville, Georgia, passed away on October 18, 2016 at the Georgia War Veterans Home in Milledgeville.
A private funeral service and burial will be held later at the chapel at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Pickard of Northside Baptist Church, Milledgeville, officiating. Arrangements are by Townsend Brothers Funeral Home in Dublin.
Mr. Barfoot was born in Laurens County, Georgia, to Nancy Elizabeth (Lord) and Arthur W. Barfoot on February 6, 1922. He went to the public schools in Laurens County, Georgia, and was a long-time resident of Dublin and then Milledgeville. He was a veteran of World War II and served in the Army. He was actively involved in Northside Baptist Church in Milledgeville.
Mr. Barfoot is preceded in death by his parents, brothers (Robert W. Barfoot, Jack L. Barfoot, Fisher L. Barfoot), and sisters (Lucy Collins Atwater, Celestine Dean.)
Mr. Barfoot is survived by his brother, Clifford W. Barfoot; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Barfoot (Jack) and Kate Barfoot (Fisher); brother-in-law, Wallace Dean (Celestine); daughters, Nan Tanner of Dublin and Jean Mullis of Brunswick, and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Condolences may be sent to grandson, Mark Tanner, of Dublin. Memorial contributions may be made to your favorite charity.
