Services for Bessie B. Holmes, 89 of Wrightsville, GA, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at Bethsaida Baptist Church, burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jerry Collins and Rev. Tom Harrison will officiate. Mrs. Holmes was born in Milledgeville, May 23, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Henry Lee Osborne and the late Bessie Combes Osborne. She was a member of Bethsaida Baptist Church and the Golden Keys Sunday School Class. Mrs. Holmes was retired from State of Georgia YDC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Holmes, son, Thomas R. Tommy Holmes. Survivors include her daughters, Shirley (Mickey) Tharpe, of Wrightsville, and Catherine Holmes of Wrightsville, grandchildren, Marci Mulkey, Cody (Nicki) Tharpe, great grandchildren, Seth Newsome, Chloe Mulkey, sister, Maude (Pat) Reid of Milledgeville, several nieces and nephews, devoted family friend, Martha Brown of Dublin. Deacons of Bethsaida Baptist Church, Joe Allen, Tommy Craft, Johnny NeSmith, Scott Knight, Al Currie, Jack Jones, Frankie Mathis and John Farwell will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Laurens County.
