Bettie Sue Criswell, age 83 of Dublin, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Marvin Leo Criswell and the late Fannie Flovelle Moye Criswell. Miss Criswell was a graduate of Middle Georgia College and taught 4th grade in Cochran. She then graduated from Georgia College for Women in Milledgeville. While teaching she studied for her master's in education, Media Specialist at the University of GA. She served as Librarian in Bibb County and retired as a Media Specialist from the Bibb County School System. She was a member of the Master Gardeners and the Dublin Garden Club. She was a member of Dublin First United Methodist Church and the Progressive Sunday School Class, where she loved working in her church and serving the Lord.
Bettie Sue loved children, loved flowers and loved hosting for family reunions. She enjoyed the outdoors and lived the way she was raised and was always there to help as much as possible.
In addition to her parents, Bettie Sue was preceded in death by her brother Ralph and sister Flovelle.
Survivors include her sister Carol C. Southerland of Dublin, nephews Cris Mallette of Dublin, and Glenn (Sherry) Mallette of Hazlehurst and great nieces, great nephews and cousins.
Visitation for Miss Criswell will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM with the funeral service at 3:00PM. Burial will follow at Northview Cemetery. Dr. Bob Williams and Rev. Barry Giddens will officiate.
Marvin Mallette Jr, Brad Mallette, Mathew Mallette, Brandon Mallette, and Tyler Conley will serve as pallbearers. The Progressive Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to the St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Contact info is below at the donation's tab.
