Betty Daniel Wood, 86, of Pooler, GA, formerly of Dexter, GA went to be with the Lord on August 21st at home after a lengthy illness.

She was a devoted wife to Derald S. Wood for 33 years and a loving mother to her daughter, Peggy Wood Shipes. She was known as MeMa to her granddaughters and great granddaughters. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of Dexter Baptist Church before moving to Pooler to live with her daughter, at which time she became a member of Rothwell Baptist Church. She retired from J.P. Stevens.

Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her parents James Melvin Daniel and Mattie Hodges Daniel; husband, Derald S. Wood; brother, Syl P. Daniel; Sisters, Nancy Richardson, Martha Boatright, Doris Beacham, and Ann Williams.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Wood Shipes of Pooler, GA; granddaughters, Erica Shipes Sticher of Pooler, GA, and Tina Shipes Frazier (Andy) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; great granddaughters, Kayla Frazier, Emily Frazier, Andrea Frazier, Bayleigh Frazier, and Isabella Frazier all of Mt. Pleasant, SC. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday in Townsend Funeral Home Chapel with visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 pm prior to the service. Reverend Calvin Halcomb will officiate. Burial will be at Dublin Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Larry Richardson, Drayton Pope, Jay Bryan, Steven Williams, Jimmy Ward and Jeff Lee.

The family would like to thank Islands Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cancer Society in her memory.

The family will be at the home of John and Linda Dominy, 1949 Springdale Rd, Dublin, GA.
