Obituary

Services for Beverly Joan Cartier Kirby, age 77 of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Rev. Douron Pierce will officiate. Mrs. Kirby died Saturday, December 17, 2011. Mrs. Kirby was born in Raleigh, NC. She was the daughter of the late Harry O. Cartier and the late Ethel Devalinger Cartier. She was a lifelong Catholic until she joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1981. She was a jack of all trades, working as a housekeeper at the hospital at Robins Air Force Base in the 70's, working as a civil servant in several different positions at Myrtle Beach AFB, Beaufort Marine Corps Base, and Robins Air Force Base, but her lifelong calling and position she loved the most was as wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very talented as a cake decorator, and loved doing arts and crafts. She was active in the Mormon Church until the time of her first stroke in 2004. Along with her parents, Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her brothers, Sonny and Rocky Cartier; daughter, Tracey Leigh Kirby Martin; grandson, Joshua Logan Ramsey; husbands; Charles Adams, Robert Dinkle, George Alexander, and Bobby Lee Kirby. She is survived by her children, John (Jennifer) Adams of Dublin, Diana (Douron) Pierce of Stockbridge, GA, Mary (Lance) Sturm of Kingsport, TN, Laurie (Robert) Bagley of Charleston, SC, Barbara (Marco) Carrera of Woodbury, MN, sisters; Cheryl (Eugene) Cartier Johnson, Patricia K. Cartier, grandchildren, Courtney (Eric) Watts, Erin (Will) Miller, Scott Adams, David Martin, Ben (Dana) Ramsey, Gabe (Wendy) Ramsey, Roman Ramsey, Bo (Jenny) Ramsey, Mac Pierce, Jessica Riner, Rachel (Davey) Hayes, James Riner, Cody Riner, Reagan Riner, Kim (Anthony) Corwin, Krista Bagley, Savannah Kirby, Isaac Kirby, and Robbie Jackson, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Ben Ramsey, Gabe Ramsey, Roman Ramsey, Bo Ramsey, Mac Pierce, David Martin, Scott Adams and Will Miller. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home Monday, December 19, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Townsend Brothers Funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
