Mrs. J.L. "Billie" Hutchinson, age 100, of Dublin, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 28, 2017.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church in Dublin. There will be a private family interment later at Kea's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Adrian. Rev. Bob Williams and Rev. Tommy Veal will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church social hall.
Pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Kade Hutchinson, Tom Proctor, John Perkins, Nick Alfanso, and Gene Braswell.
Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dublin. She taught school with the Dublin City School for over 30 years. She was an accomplished pianist and played at Kea's United Methodist Church for more than 80 years and the First United Methodist Church for many years, even starting the youth choir. Mrs. Hutchinson was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and published a book in 1996 on the genealogy of the Key/Kea Family. She and her husband were cattle farmers together and she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Homes Charles Sumner and the late Willie Ann Smith Sumner and her husband, James L. Hutchinson.
Survivors include her son, Larry S. Hutchinson (Karen), of Adrian; daughter, Mary Ann Vessey (Don), of Staunton, VA; grandchildren, Kelly E. Berick (Rob), of Shaker Heights, OH, Leslie E. Hutchinson, of Adrian, Kade B.P. Hutchinson, of San Francisco, CA, Dulaney Zullig (David), of Staunton, VA, and Julia Hebron (Joshua), of Churchville, VA; great-grandchildren, Joseph Berick, William Berick, and Oliver Hebron.
The family would like to thank the staff of Dublin Place for their devoted care and attention. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Key Memorial Foundation, P.O. Box 264, Adrian, GA 31002.
