Services for Billy Luther Strickland, age 71, of Dublin, will be held at 10:30AM on July 18, 2011 at Poplar Springs North Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev.Robert Rogers, Rev. Robert Woodall, and Rev.Cole Morris will officiate. Mr. Strickland was a retired florist and owner of Colleen's Flower Shop for over 40 years. He was a member of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Music Director, Sunday School Teacher, Brotherhood President, Church Training Director and in many other ministry areas over the years. Billy served as a past president of the Georgia State Florist Association and was selected as a retailer of the year. He was a loving and devoted brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend. He was never a biological father but a father to many. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, J.A. Strickland, Sr. and Carrie O'Neal Strickland; three brothers, James A. Strickland, Jr., WL Strickland and Russell Strickland; two sisters, Oretha Strickland Baggett and Nell Strickland Maddox and a nephew Tommy Baggett. He passed away on Friday, July 15, 2011. He is survived by his siblings; Martha Tanner of East Dublin, Robert (Carolyn) Strickland, Becky White, Nannette Kimbell, Joanne (Tim) Luecke and Moye (Linda) Strickland, all of Dublin; sisters-in-law, Faye Strickland, Mabon Strickland and Nellie Strickland all of Dublin and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Chad Payne, Ryan Strickland, Andy Kimbell, Benjamin Strickland, Jeremy Payne, Ricky Maddox, Mike Strickland, Eddie Strickland, Wayne Strickland and Rodney Strickland. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Deacons of Poplar Springs North Baptist Church, Classmates of Dudley High School Class of 1958, Russell Johnson and Rachel Walker.
