Blanche T. Smith, 90 years, 8 months, of Dublin, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2017 at home.
A native of Johnson County, she was born to the late Harvey and Mattie Mae Thompson on October 26, 1926. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Herman Thompson. She married Ralph J. Smith on July 4, 1943. They were married seventy-one and a half years until his death, January 30, 2015.
Survivors include children, Marie (Howard) Darsey, of Sandersville, Ralph L. (Kay) Smith, of Macon, and Brenda (Jim) Weaver, of Duncan, OK; eight grandchildren; sixteen great- grandchildren; two great- great granddaughters; brothers, Roy (Katherine) Thompson, of Adrian, Marvin (Willette) Thompson, of Wrightsville, James (Naomi) Thompson, of Adrian, Carl (Joyce) Thompson, of East Dublin; sister, Doris Peace, of Wrightsville; sister-in-law, Molline Thompson, of Adrian; and great uncle, Herschel Rowland, of Opelika, AL.
Mrs. Smith earned her GED in her 40's. She became an LPN and used those skills to help family and friends. God, family, and church were her priorities. She served in the Wrightsville and Dublin Nazarene Churches. She was devoted to her family. Grandchildren were grand, but great grands even grander.
Funeral services will be held at Dublin First Church of the Nazarene on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:00 PM. Family will greet friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Saturday, July 8, at Townsend Funeral Home.
The Rev. Don Hicks, Rev. Myron Wise, Rev. Danny Thomas, and Rev. David Canen will officiate. Burial will be held privately. Mrs. Smith's grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
