Brenda Veal Thomas, age 73, of Dublin, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015.
Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the First Independent Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Garden. Pastor Paul Brown, Pastor Chase Brown and Mr. Dennis Waldrep will officiate.
Mrs. Thomas' grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Vines, Greg Vines, and James Stinson, as well as, past and current Gideons and Auxiliary International Members.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00PM until 8:00PM at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Johnson County on March 27, 1942. She was a founding member of the First Independent Methodist Church in Dublin, where she held various positions throughout the years. Her work in the church was always behind the scene, as she always wanted to give God the glory. Brenda also led a "silent ministry" where she helped those with physical difficulties. She was a member of the Gideons International Auxiliary. She treasured her relationship with her God and family. Her devotion, hard work, and dedication to her church and family will be deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Mildred Rogers Hardin and D.E. Hardin; father, Recie C. Veal; sister-in-law, Jane Veal and brothers-in-law, Russell Brantley and Frank Tanner.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her beloved husband of over 58 years, William Zenus Thomas of Dublin; children, Cathy and Ricky Scott of Watkinsville, Renea and Danny Woodard of Loganville and Beth and Paul Brown of Dublin; grandchildren, Nikki and John Rauschenberg, Jenny Scott, Nathan Woodard-Persily, Brandon and Jodi Woodard, Ashley and Kris Fordham, Chase and Ashley Lynn Brown, Katie and Brad Baker and Thomas Brown; great-grandchildren, Makensley Fordham, Jarred Fordham, Xander Baker, Sawyer Rauschenberg, Brittany Woodard-Persily and Caitlin Woodard-Persily; brother, Perry Veal of Milledgeville; sisters, Bernice Tanner of Sylvania and Faye and Lonnie Tapley of Milledgeville; in-laws, Celia and Claude Vines of Dublin, Delores and Jimmy Stinson of Dublin and Lewis Thomas of Dublin, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a multitude of friends.
