Services for C. B. Keene, age 97, of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 14, 2011 in the Chapel of Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Rev. Al Daniell and Bro. Ted Jarriel will officiate. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Mr. Keene died Friday, November 11, 2011. Mr. Keene was the son of the late J. B. Keene and the late Lavada Holmes Keene. He was a member of the L. B. Roberts Men's Sunday School Class and an ordained deacon at Jefferson Street Baptist Church. He also taught Sunday School for over 20 years. Mr. Keene was a member of the Dublin Masonic Lodge, Laurens County Shriners Club, and Al Sihah Temple and served as President in 1959. He retired from his own business, C. B. Keene Produce Company. Mr. Keene served in the Georgia National Guard from 1929 through 1938. Mr. Keene was preceded in death by his wife, Stella K. Keene and sister, Otelia Keene. Survivors include his daughter, Dixie (Bobby) Evans, of Milledgeville; grandchildren, Cynthia (Mark) Bowen, of Milledgeville, and Sherry (Sherman) Anderson, of Phoenix, Arizona; great grandchildren, Candace (Scott) Lance, of Milledgeville, and Samantha Anderson, of Phoenix, Arizona; and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ross Beasley, Ray Beck, Mark Bowen, Bobby Davidson, Darrell Holliday, and Larry Simpson will serve as pallbearers. The members of the L. B. Roberts Sunday School Class and deacons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Townsend Brother Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Serenity Hospice, 520 Hillcrest Parkway, Dublin, GA, 31021 or Jefferson Street Baptist Church.
