Funeral services for Charles Everett "Hotfoot" Arnold, age 88, of Dublin, will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs United Methodist Church Cemetery in Adrian. Rev. James Sampley, Rev. Danny Duggar and Rev. Jay Williams will officiate.
Mr. Arnold was a member of Grace Baptist Church and an ordained Deacon. He was a decorated war veteran serving in the United States Army. His medals include a WWII Victory Medal, Bronze Star and EAMET Service Medal. He was the last surviving member of Company "A" 56th Signal Battalion. Mr. Arnold was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Arnold and Mary Sue Smith Arnold; brother, Hugh Arnold, Jr. and sister, Mary Arnold Wilkes. Mr. Arnold passed away on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Fairview Park Hospital.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ola Williams Arnold of Dublin; daughter, Vicki Lynn Arnold Tucker (Harris) of Tifton; son, Bobby Arnold (Dorothy) of Wimberly, Texas; two grandsons, Britt Tucker of Atlanta and Forrest Arnold of Austin, Texas; sister, Emily Meyer of Decatur and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Larry Drew, Ray Beck, Lex Williams, Melton Tyson, Jerry Hall, Randy Wilkins, Johnny Payne and Dr. Jackson Fordham. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Telephone Pioneers, Harry Graham, Mike Crowder, Steve Freeman, Franz Bruckmair, Foy Clark, Bobby Davidson, David Taylor and Glen Gillespie.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00AM until funeral hour at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home.
