Services for Charlie Butler, age 87 of Dublin, will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 30, 2014, at Springdale Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Paul Wilkes will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at the church. Mr. Butler died Monday, January 27, 2014.
Mr. Butler served in the United States Marine Corps. After his discharge from the service, he worked as an appliance and electrical repairman. He was employed at Uniroyal for two years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 17 and Springdale Baptist Church. Mr. Butler was a devoted husband and father.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Henry Butler and Thelma Marie Wilson Butler; brothers, Wilson Butler, W. H. Butler, Bennie Butler; and sisters, Fannie Mae Boughcum, Charlotte Hammock, and Jerri Densmore.
Survivors include his wife of sixty-one years, Katie Butler, of Dublin; children, Patty Butler, Charles "Buddy" (Karen) Butler, Forrest (Georga) Butler, all of Dublin, Jay (Trish) Butler, of LaGrange; grandchildren, Josh Wright, of Charleston, SC, Katie Wright, Daniel (Brittney) Butler, of Dublin, Kyle (Josh) Brookins, of Milledgeville, Amber Butler, of Rota, Spain, C. J. Butler, of LaGrange; great grandchildren, Charlie Butler, of Dublin, Jackson Brookins, of Milledgeville; sisters, Faye Cochran, of Jasper, AL, Mary Layfield, of Asheville, AL; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Josh Wright, Daniel Butler, Josh Brookins, C. J. Butler, Cliff Butler, and Rick Layfield will serve as pallbearers.
