Obituary

Claud Paul Denney died on Monday, April 18, 2016 at the age of 81. He was the son of the late Dewey and Sally Denney of Crab Orchard, Kentucky. He was one of twelve siblings. He was a member of First Independent Methodist Church and the Catherine L. Thomas Sunday School Class. He retired from the Georgia State Patrol with 25 years of service. He was past president of the GSP/GBI Association and a Lifetime member of the Peace Officers Association of GA. He retired from the GA Air National Guard with 29 years of service and was a lifetime member of the Savannah Association of the Flying Air National Guard. He was also owner of Denney Bonding Company. He was devoted to his family and is survived by his loving wife, Jackie Kitchens Denney, children; Barbara (Ken) Mercer of Swainsboro, Bill (Pam)Denney, Barry (Jenny) Denney of Springfield, grandchildren; Ashley (Lynnsey), Zack (Lindley), Austin (Maggie), Chance and Josey Denney; great-grandchildren, Addison, Channum and Millie Kate Denney; sister, Mary (Robert) King and brother Ray (Diane) Denney of Lexington, KY; brother-in-law, Billy Ray (Candy) Kitchens of Perry; nephews, Billy (Megan) Kitchens and Kory Kitchens; great-nephews, Ray, Kean and Kanon Kitchens. He also loved his extended family; Melanie Deal, Skie Brantley, Sherry Mangum, Taylor Drew, Tanner Seabolt, Kristi Drew Thompson, Pat Foskey, Joyce Kemp, and Harbot & Carolyn Mathis. Pallbearers will be Ashley, Zack, Austin, and Chance Denney, Billy and Kory Kitchens and Skie Brantley. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the GA State Patrol, members of the GA Air National Guard, Harbot Mathis, H.V. Lanier, Howard Youmans, Horace Sanders, Carlton Stallings, Johnny Davis, Sheriff Darren Mitchum, Sheriff Bill Harrell and other active and retired members of law enforcement. Memorial contributions may be sent to the First Independent Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1021, Dublin, GA 31040. Services will be held in the Chapel of Townsend Brothers Funeral Home at 3:00PM on Wednesday, April 20, 2016. The family will receive friends at the funeral home two hours prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM. Burial will follow in Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Paul Brown, Chaplain George Griner, and Mr. Carlton Stallings will officiate.
