Graveside services for Clay Slaughter, age 72, of Dudley, will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, July 31, 2016, at Dublin Memorial Gardens. Rev. Jerry Weaver will officiate. Mr. Slaughter died Thursday, July 28, 2016.
Mr. Slaughter attended Dudley High School, Berry College and Mercer University. He had a lifetime involvement with sports for his sons and grandchildren. Mr. Slaughter was a self-employed farmer and member of Montrose Baptist Church.
Mr. Slaughter was preceded in death by his parents, Harrison and Penny Slaughter; brothers, Gerald Slaughter, and Kenneth Slaughter; sisters, Jeanine Jones and Karen Wilson; and grandson, Tucker Slaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Haskins Slaughter, of Dudley; children, Stephanie Slaughter, of Dudley, Greg (Maribeth) Slaughter, of Dexter, and Chad (Angie) Slaughter, of Eastman; grandchildren, Brody Slaughter, of Dexter, Logan Slaughter, and Lauren Slaughter, both of Eastman; sisters, Harriette (Pat) Adams, of Savannah, and Aundrea (Mike) Weldon, of Macon; brother-in-law, Buddy (Kay) Haskins, of Sylvester and Dick Wilson, of Cumming; sisters-in-law, Eugenia Haskins, Diane Haskins, and Mary Ellen Slaughter, all of Dublin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brad Haskins, Eric Haskins, Gil Haskins, Charlton Haskins, Scott Slaughter, and John Slaughter will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montrose Baptist Church Building Fund, P. O. Box 86, Montrose, GA 31065.
