Clayton "Doodle Bug" Horne, age 77, of Rentz, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2020.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2020, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Rentz. Rev. Fred Reese will officiate. Townsend Brothers Funeral Home and Staff respectfully ask all in attendance to follow social distancing guidelines .

Mr. Horne was raised in Rentz, Georgia, and married Alma at 22 years old. She was a native of Winter Haven, Florida so they moved there and lived between Winter Haven and Bradenton, Florida until 1985 when he moved back to Georgia. Clayton was a professional painter his whole life and had the privilege of painting the homes of George Jones, Tammy Wynette, and Dr. Paul Birrell (WWE, Kane's father). However most important he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved fishing, and gardening, and was affectionately known as "Doodle Bug" by friends and family.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Ezra and Ruby Mae Burch Horne; brother, Mather Clinton Horne, and sisters, Grace Lee Horne Arrington and Jeanelle (Nealy) Horne McDaniel.

Survivors include his wife, Mattie Alma Melton Horne, of Rentz; children, Juanita Brown, of Glenwood, Brenda Chapman, of Dublin, Amy Hawkins (Derek), of East Dublin, Clayton Horne (Michelle), of Rentz, and Kisha White (Doug), of East Dublin; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
