COLENA LOWERY ALLIGOOD MEEKER Colena Lowery Alligood Meeker, 85, passed away Monday morning at Serenity Place in Dublin. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 17, 2010, at Rentz Baptist Church in Rentz. The Reverends Tom Vann, Greg Lowery, and Charles Alligood will officiate. Burial will follow in the Rentz Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A faithful member of Rentz Baptist Church for more than 50 years, Mrs. Meeker sang in the church choir and for years worked with the youth choir. She was retired from J. P. Stevens. Mrs. Meeker was the daughter of the late John A. Lowery and Annie Burch Lowery. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Loren B. Alligood and Herman Ted Meeker. Also preceding her in death were sisters Dessie Watson, Sally Mae Jackson, and Lois McLeod, and brothers, Christopher Lowery, Arvis Lowery, John Lowery, Lester Lowery, Zelton Lowery, and Kermit Lowery. Survivors include her daughter, Ann Mimbs of Rentz; son and daughter-in-law, Charles L. and Peggy Alligood of Alamo, Texas; sister, Mavaneene Bennett of Macon; granddaughters, Kim Mimbs (Jeff) Moore of Dublin, Dana Alligood (Joel) Gamonal of Lima, Peru, and Lisa Alligood (Matt) McCrary of Flowery Branch; grandsons, Chris (Cathy) Mimbs of East Dublin, Jeff (Donna) Mimbs of LaGrange, Stephen (Bethany) Alligood of Tyrone, Timothy Alligood of Alamo, Texas and Jonathan (Ruth) Alligood of Gainesville; great-grandsons, Casey Mimbs and C. J. Mimbs of East Dublin, Kyle Mimbs and Cody Mimbs of LaGrange, and Caleb Gamonal, Benjamin Gamonal, Aaron Gamonal, and Isaac Gamonal of Lima, Peru, step-great-grandsons, Cole Moore of Dublin and Jason Morell of East Dublin; and step-great-granddaughter, Gabi Morell of East Dublin. Pall bearers will be Stephen Alligood, Jonathan Alligood, Chris Mimbs, Jeff Mimbs, Casey Mimbs, and Kyle Mimbs. Honorary pallbearers will include members of the Chambless Sunday School Class, workers from Serenity Place, Cody Mimbs, Cole Moore, Jason Morell, Edwin Avery, Sam Andrews, Benny Daniell, and Russell Perry. The family is gathering at the Meeker home in Rentz. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to Serenity Hospice Foundation, 510 Bellevue Avenue, Dublin, GA 31021.
